Week of November 5th - 9th

Kindergarten News for the week of November 5th – 9th

This weekend ends Daylight Savings Time.  Remember to turn your clocks back one hour on Saturday night. (Spring forward—Fall back!)

Next week in phonics we will continue learning about the letter Mm as in monkey.  We will also begin to learn the letter Ii as in inch.  Even though the formation is easy, the sound is difficult.  You can see how your child did on their second word list test.  Word list 3 is in their folder to practice for next week.  Your child may grow a mustache by the end of Monday!

In math this week we will be learning more about acting out story problems using pennies, identifying time to the hour, identifying ordinal numbers to fourth and identifying numbers that are before, after or in between.  We are continuing to do the calendar using an ABB pattern for November.  We are counting up to 50 this week!

In November we will be learning about Pilgrims and Indians as well as Thanksgiving.

I’m looking forward to seeing and talking to many parents at our parent/teacher conferences on Tuesday and by phone!  The children will be so excited that we were in touch with each other!

In reading we will continue reading the new story called A Bed for the Winter.  This is an informational text and we will learn about Ii and the comprehension skill- how to sequence.

Please sign and return your child’s report card as soon as you can.  They will come home on Tuesday!

There is a NSE PTO meeting on Monday- November 12th at 6:30 in our school cafeteria.

A big thank you to the parents that came in to help at our Halloween party!  It was difficult for some to attend due to the change of date!  The children especially enjoyed the parade!
There is no school for students on Friday- October 9th.  It is a full day act 80 day
